MyDocs App Privacy Policy

Last modified December 2020

General Information

Image Access, Inc. and its Digital Library Systems Group (DLSG) created MyDocs as a free app for tablets, PCs and phones running Android, Apple and MS-Windows operating systems. This app is provided by Image Access at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This page is used to inform MyDocs users about our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information for anyone intending to use the MyDocs app.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which is accessible at MyDocs unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

The MyDocs App was designed as a personal and private application for managing important personal and family documents and information and for reading and studying. As such, the product design excludes any facilities for transferring your personal name, address or login information outside of the MyDocs Personal Network of up to three devices.

MyDocs export features allow users to export content that is not copyright protected, and if you use these capabilities to export your personal information, it is at your own risk.

If you choose to use MyDocs, you agree to allow us to collect and use the name of any institution(s) that provide services that you use through MyDocs along with information about the content that you access from any such institution(s), and provide that information to those institutions, and you agree to allow us to collect and use log data for improving the quality of the product, including log data about how you use MyDocs, including, but not limited to: the operating system version and configuration of the app, the numbers, types and sizes of items you maintain in MyDocs, how frequently you use the ‘swipe-to-find’ feature, how often you access documents maintained by MyDocs, how often and for how long you use ReadAlong Audio, in what language(s) and at what speeds, and similar information on your use of SKIM, FlashCards, Study Progress Statistics and HotLinks.

MyDocs supports Single Sign-on (SSO) facilities such as Shibboleth. Please refer to information on your institution’s SSO facilities for more information and for its Information Collection and Use policy.

Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used by Web sites as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device's internal memory.

MyDocs does not use “cookies.”

Service Providers

If the MyDocs user chooses to capture content into MyDocs using a KIC self-serve scanning station (typically located in academic and public libraries), the content can be transferred directly from KIC to MyDocs via KIC’s WiFi interface, or the content can be transferred through a cloud service. KIC selfserve scanning stations currently employ a Microsoft Azure hosted cloud service for transfers to MyDocs.

If the MyDocs user chooses to access content from a library’s DSE Content Server, the data is transferred via secure socket transmission protocol outside the library’s firewall and over the Internet to MyDocs.

MyDocs has no facility for transferring content to any KIC system or to any DSE Content Server, either automatically or by explicit commands issued by the MyDocs user.

MyDocs supports standard file import from and export to device storage. The MyDocs user can import and export content that does not have Digital Rights Management restrictions at will and is expected to ensure that no copyright law is violated.

MyDocs utilizes secure socket transmission protocol to ensure security of your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

MyDocs can be used to store photos taken by its user. MyDocs has no facility for restricting use to specific age groups.
